WeAct, a leading global carbon project developer and trader, today announces the successful sale of carbon credits from its South Africa Grasslands Project (VCS2710), following the inaugural auction held on Xpansiv’s CBL platform on 10th December, 2025.

The full volume of Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) cleared above the auction’s USD $12.00 floor price, with a total of 695,971 settling via CBL.

“We had a clear strategy to take our farmers’ high-integrity nature-based removal credits to the world to find the best buyers – and to get the best price” said Lloyd Vas, Head of Carbon Trading at WeAct. “The strong auction results and international buyer participation confirm demand for carbon credits that deliver climate, community and biodiversity impact”, said Vas.

“These strong results show the power of auctions to drive centralized price discovery and liquidity formation in a transparent process for both buyers and sellers,” said Russell Karas, Senior Vice President, Xpansiv. “CBL auctions are the ideal way to bring credits to market. Like the CORSIA credits we auction with IATA on the ACE airline platform, these South African grasslands credits benefit from strong compliance and voluntary demand from our customers.”

The South Africa Grasslands Project spans more than 90,000 hectares of perennial grasslands and works with local landowners and NGO partners to restore degraded ecosystems, improve soil health, and strengthen climate resilience.

“With this sale we are solidifying WeAct’s position as a carbon project developer that consistently generates high-quality credits for the global carbon market,” Vas added. “We look forward to sharing these benefits with our local NGO partners and landowners who are working to restore degraded grasslands and sequester soil organic carbon across South Africa.”

WeAct is excited to embark on the next stage of project implementation and expansion, working closely with South African communities to restore and protect critical biodiverse ecosystems and support sustainable agricultural livelihoods.
